For its strong performance in the Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) market, Tata Communications was recognised with the 2014 Asia Pacific Product Line Strategy of the Year Award.
The Frost & Sullivan Product Line Strategy of the Year Award is presented each year to the company that has demonstrated the most insight into the needs and product demands of its customers.
The APAC UCaaS market grew by 10.1% in 2013 driven by emergence of cloud and migration of on-premises based Unified Communications (UC) systems to cloud. The market in 2013 was estimated at US $ 1.6 million. It was important that vendors and service providers continue to invest in enhancing their offerings and in building the necessary infrastructure (that supports UCaaS) and made widely available across the globe.
Initially sold as a standalone service, video conferencing services gradually gave way to integrated conferencing services or integrated Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS). Tata Communications identified this need in the market early on and introduced products that capitalised on the UCaaS space.
With continued technology innovation and efficient performance complemented by industry proven expertise, Tata Communications has continually demonstrated why it is a market leader in this area. The company’s premier product, jamvee™ conferencing – an on-demand unified communication service allows anyone, anywhere, to instantly access a business video meeting on any device – be it desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone, Telepresence or video conferencing rooms.
“Tata Communications greatly enhanced its video conferencing solution with the introduction of its jamvee™ platform. The jamvee™ platform offers an integrated, unified communications solution that not only includes video, web and audio conferencing but also content sharing and presence. The jamvee™ platform provides integration with other collaboration platforms, thus overcoming interoperability challenges. It is delivered as a service and offers any device access thus supporting BYOD, mobility and pay-as-you-go trends,” said Andrew Milroy, Senior Vice-President, ICT, Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific.
“We believe that browser-based interoperability and open standards are the foundation for truly unified communications, regardless of location or device, and that has been core to our UCC strategy service development. We are honoured that this ethos has been recognised by Frost & Sullivan”, said Anthony Bartolo, Senior Vice President, Unified Communications & Collaboration, Tata Communications. “Enterprises today require an agnostic and flexible approach that fits with their corporate culture when deploying Unified Communication strategies in order to enable true collaboration. Jamvee™ platform provides seamless interoperability, both within and outside the organisation, as the open APIs enable enterprises to integrate the jamvee™ platform within their existing legacy systems.”
Tata Communications has truly moved ahead of the competition by transforming its video conferencing services to that of a high-quality UCaaS offering. It has done extremely well in furthering interoperability between technologies and has made video conferencing really simple and easy to use.
The added functionality to video conferencing and UCaaS has enabled the company to offer the most comprehensive solution that also supports WebRTC, thus future proofing the customers’ spends. It has taken the UCaaS service to the next level, solving most of the problems faced by businesses in adopting UC solutions.
